SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A residential facility that helps women beat their addictions received recognition for their efforts.
Ruth House in Sullivan was named the “Recovery Residence of the Year” by the Wabash Valley Recovery Community.
Women at Ruth House live at the residential treatment program for 9 months and take part in various classes.
The Executive Director of Ruth House, Peggy Carmichael, credits the women, striving to become drug-free, for the reason, the program works.
“I owe the success to the women who are broken and need help and want a new life. So, they’re the ones who actually go to work at night and come home and get up at 10 am and do 5 hours of classes each day and then turn around and go back to work,” Carmichael said. “I like to focus just on the recovery, getting the girls to work on the underlying issues that caused their addiction in the first place. So, we don’t do some of the major outings some of the other places do,” she added.
Ruth House opened in July 2019.
