SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local city mayor, who is a Democrat, is joining Indiana’s Republican governor to share the message of “Disagree Better.”

That’s the title of an initiative by the National Governors Association. The NGA said its goal is to show that Americans can work through differences to find solutions.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb recently recorded a video for the initiative.

In the video, they discuss how they worked together in the aftermath of the Sullivan tornado. Mayor Lamb said it’s important for elected officials to set an example of working together, especially in a time with a lot of polarization in society.

“It is just as vital as any other public service announcement. Because literally, it is breaking relationships, it’s breaking friendships, and it’s breaking families apart,” Lamb said.
