SULLIVAN, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – Sullivan City Park was filled with many runners on Saturday to support fundraiser events in memory of a local hero.

The second annual Run for Rob honored local fallen officer Rob Pitts.

Participants had the option to either run or walk.

All profits from the race went toward a non-profit that was close to Pitts.

This year race organizer Sally Conover said the committee decided on the ALS Foundation.

“Rob Pitts was a very generous person,” Conover said. “We collectively agreed all funds raised to a non-profit organization each year.”

Conover said events like run for rob are important to host.

“Our officers and first responders lose their lives every day in the line of duty,” Conover said. “We want to make sure their loss is not in vein.”

Conover expects the the number of participants to increase in the future.
