SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: Sheriff Clark Cottom says that the driver and truck have been identified.

Original: The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office is trying to locate the owner or operator of a semi tractor trailer they say was involved in a hit-and-run crash.

According to the Sheriff’s Facebook post, the crash occurred on US 41 just north of Shelburn a few weeks ago. Sheriff Clark Cottom said initially, they had been given some information they thought would lead them to the person’s identity, but upon investigation, that information fell through. Now the department is asking for the public’s help.

The semi pictured reportedly drove northbound and was involved in a collision that caused significant damage to the other vehicle. The semi is believed to be a 2008-2017 Freightliner Cascadia with an EAST brand “dump type” trailer. Sheriff Cottom said the semi received damage to the left front bumper and the driver’s door mirror.

The images are taken from a passing vehicle’s dash-cam.
