SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sullivan High School students returned Monday from spring break with one desk now empty following the death of 16-year-old Connor Rodriguez and his sister, 18-year-old Shelby Horton in a crash last week.
According to school officials, students were sent to their homerooms where teachers spoke to them about the incident. Students were encouraged to speak to counselors at the school as well as counselors from the Hamilton Center who were brought in to help during this time.
Students planning to attend the memorial services Tuesday for the siblings will be excused from class as long as they have parent permission. The school will also accommodate staff members wanting to attend the services.
Visitation will be held beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.
