SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Residents on the south side of Sullivan were without power for a short time Wednesday morning after a Linton woman crashed her vehicle into an electrical box.
According to Indiana State Police, 70-year-old Genevieve Stone was driving westbound on State Road 54, when a preexisting medical condition caused her to miss a stop sign at the intersection of SR 54 and South Section Street. Stone’s vehicle ran off the roadway, striking several trees and the electrical box before coming to rest in a wooded area around 60 feet away from the road.
Stone was transported to Union Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
“It is believed that seatbelt usage greatly reduced injuries in this accident,” Master Trooper Tom Hanks noted.
Sullivan City Police, Sullivan City Ambulance, Duke Energy and Recovery Plus assisted at the scene.
