SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — People in Sullivan will notice a new colorful piece of artwork in the city.

The Sullivan Area Art Guild is painting a mural of flowers on the wall next to Baesler’s Market on Section Street.

Guild president Kat Walker said Baesler’s was gracious to let them paint this wall which is along a busy section of the roadway, so it will be seen by many people. With the theme “America the Beautiful,” guild members were told to paint beautiful flowers.

“We’ve had several people come up and say we need to put leaves and greenery on our flowers and that is our full intent. However, we’re going to wait until all the flowers are painted and then we’ll come back through and put leaves and vines to connect them all,” Walker said.

Walker also noted the progress depends on the weather and volunteers’ schedules, but the hope is to have it finished before Christmas.
