TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Dozens of local students learned all about gardening and raising animals today with a field trip in Terre Haute.
Wabash Valley Master Gardeners hosted a program called ‘Let’s Get Dirty,’ which is designed to give kindergarteners an up-close look at animals and also give them hands-on experience with gardening.
The program is sponsored by Rural King and took place at the store. The program gave kindergarteners a chance to experience basic farming at an accessible level.
“They’re learning about the growth of animals so they got to go look at the little chickens and ducklings, and rabbits, and now we’re also learning about the plants and how they grow, and they get to actually plant today with the master gardeners,” said Sherrie Mcguirk, a kindergarten teacher at Sugar Grove Elementary School.
Organizers say the kids had a blast.
