BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A middle school student is in police custody after reportedly making threats to a Clay County school.
According to a statement from Clay Community Schools Superintendent Jeff Fritz, the organization was made aware of a threat of violence against North Clay Middle School Wednesday.
Fritz said law enforcement was contacted immediately and the student who made the threat was detained. Fritz added that there was never any immediate danger to any students or staff members.
“The procedures that we have in place allowed us to handle this situation with no disruption to the school,” Fritz said.
According to Fritz, the student in question remains in police custody, and the threat has been mitigated.
“We appreciate your willingness to continually trust us with your children,” Fritz said. “We make every effort to provide them with a safe and caring environment at school.”
