VIGO/VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Letter Carrier’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive returns Saturday, May 13.
Letter carriers will begin to place food donation bags in your mailbox around Vigo and Vermillion County. Residents can fill the bags with non-perishable foods and leave them by their mailbox to be picked up by a letter carrier or volunteer.
There will also be different drop off locations at all three Kroger locations in Vigo County, Baesler’s, or at the IGA in Clinton.
The food will then be taken to Covenant Cooperative Ministries which will distribute the items to local food pantries.
“Right now with all the hard times I think it’s important for a lot of the people to give. Just with the grocery cost and everything I think it helps a lot of lower income families,” President of Branch 479 Jessica Chambers said.
If interested in volunteering, they ask that you meet at the Post Office on Margaret Avenue in Vigo County by 10 a.m.
