SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods’ senior living apartments are set to open in November and people can start touring the facilities now.
In 2019, construction began to convert Owens Hall into “St. Mary’s Senior Living”. Rent for the housing will be income based.
Applicants for the apartments must be 55 years or older. In addition, 20% of the units will be reserved for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Flaherty and Collins Developments is working with the Sisters of Providence to help create the new 68-unit community.
“This is a certified historic structure,” Julie Collier, Vice President of Development at Flaherty and Collins, said. “It was rehabbed to Secretary of Interior standards, so there’s a lot of historic character remaining inside and so if you’re familiar with the building and walk in the front door, a lot of it is going to look the same.”
