TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– St. Benedict’s Church in Terre Haute hosted a socially distanced Palm Sunday mass on Saturday evening.
This year due to COVID-19 restrictions, there was no procession of people to hold the palms. Instead the palms were blessed before the service and passed out to church members afterwards to maintain social distancing.
Father Martin Day, priest at St. Benedict’s Church, said he was happy to have people in person for this year’s holy week celebration.
“It’s moving toward normal and I’m quite happy and a lot of people are just now coming back,” Father Day said. “This evening I saw some parishioners that I have not seen since last March.”
The church also passed out palms on Sunday morning.
