TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – St. Benedict Church in Terre Haute served hot breakfast to community members Saturday morning.

The church hosts hot breakfast giveaways on the fourth Saturday of every month. In addition to hot breakfast, the church handed out grocery bags filled with items such as canned goods, fresh fruit and other snacks.

Secular Franciscan Linda Gorrell said the turnout on Saturday was the biggest turnout that they have had in over a year. She added that these events are their way of caring for the community.

“We love doing what we do and we believe that the people who come are our brothers and sisters in Christ,” Gorrell said.

St. Benedict hosts a weekly soup kitchen every Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
