SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — To commemorate Earth Day on Thursday, the Sustainability Club set up a tent on campus at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods campus, where members educated people about being environmentally friendly and handed out eco-friendly materials like hygiene and household products.
That mission extends far beyond Earth Day for the Sustainability Club, said its president, Kate Johnson.
“Periodically throughout the school year, usually around once a month, we have a handout event with a new sustainable product that we allow our students and staff to come and grab, and try out to see just how easy it is to live sustainably,” said Johnson.
Eco-friendly items are important, Johnson said, because it reduces the amount of trash that ends up in landfills.
