SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College broke ground Thursday on a second residence hall.

The new building will be more than 49,000 square feet and will accomodate 92 beds.

It will have a dining hall and a bookstore, which is relocating from Hulman Hall.

College President Dottie King says another building is needed as they see increased enrollment.

“The current hall is Le Fer Hall and it’s a grand building nearing its 100th year anniversary. We’re renovating it, so we’re in no way giving up on Le Fer Hall. But, as our need increases we’re building a second building, and we’re going to move seniors into the new building and graduate students,” says King.

The new building is funded in partnership with University Housing Solutions, which also surprised the college with a $500,000 gift from the Frank E. Murphy Foundation.
