SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The community got the opportunity today to learn about volunteering with Sisters of Providence.

They’re in need of volunteers especially as we get into the summer months. On Thursday, the Sisters of Providence held a volunteer open house. They have all kinds of opportunities for volunteers available.

For example, people can get involved by volunteering at providence health care by visiting the seniors there or volunteering at the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice by helping out in the garden or caring for the alpacas and chickens.

“I think it’s nice helping the community and it’s good to kind of feel that you’re helping giving back. We always have a lot of recognition events that we do for the volunteers and really it just kind of gives you that warm fuzzy feeling when you’re helping out,” said Sarah Knoblock, Coordinator of Volunteer Services for Sisters of Providence.

Those that may have missed Thursday’s open house, but are interested in volunteering can learn more by visiting the Sisters of Providence volunteer webpage or by contacting Sarah Knoblock at 812-535-2878.
