SHOALS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Authorities are searching for a Shoals man they say removed his ankle monitor and fled from home detention.

James “Mike” Hert, 56, was sentenced to Community Corrections, an alternative from prison or jail, for methamphetamine-related offenses.

Friday morning, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office learned Hert had tampered with his ankle monitor. When deputies arrived at his home in Shoals, no one was home and Hert’s ankle monitor was in the front yard.

Hert is described as being 6 ft. tall and 170 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 247-3726.
