PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Rosedale man hit speeds of 90mph while being pursued on Main Street in Clinton before being arrested late Tuesday.
That’s according to Parke County Sheriff Jason Frazier, who said the pursuit began after a deputy attempted a traffic stop near the intersection of U.S. 41 and S.R. 163 at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday night.
Frazier said that the driver, 19-year-old Nicholas G. Williams of Rosedale, refused to stop, instead accelerating up to 80-90 mph as the vehicle continued west on S.R. 163.
The pursuit continued into Clinton, where Williams reportedly began heading south on Main Street at speeds of 90 mph.
Eventually Williams gave up and pulled over, allowing police to make an arrest. Police found Williams was in possession of marijuana as well.
Williams was arrested on the following preliminary charges:
- Resisting law enforcement
- Reckless driving
- Criminal recklessness
- Possession of marijuana
Williams is being held in the Parke County Jail on $10,000 bond.
