TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Severe storms rolled through the Wabash Valley and left behind plenty of damage in its wake.
The Wabashiki connector that connects Terre Haute and West Terre Haute was struck by a downed tree causing damage to the connector.
Duke Energy Community Relations Manager Rick Burger said that about 3,000 Duke Energy customers were without power during the storms. The outages affect major roadways in the area including US-41.
Terre Haute resident Jonathan Nesting was an eyewitness to a downed tree in the front of his home near Maple Avenue. He said that the damage the storm left behind took him by suprise.
“I heard a loud bang and of course the wind was going and the rain,” Nesting said. “I looked out there and noticed the powerline was taken down with it so it was really shocking.”
