UPDATE: All lanes open on U.S. 41 after morning wreck involving semi

Local News

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — All lanes of traffic are open again on U.S. 41 near State Road 246 after an early morning crash Friday involving a semi and two other vehicles.

According to Lieutenant Brent Hall of the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, the semi driver was trying to maneuver away from hitting a deer and crashed in the process, flipping the semi on its side. The driver of the semi was not injured.

One driver operating a Mercury town car was unable to maneuver away from the truck in time and crashed into the truck. The driver of that vehicle was taken to Regional Hospital in Terre Haute with non-life threating injuries.

Another driver who was operating a Honda worked to maneuver away from the semi and clipped the back end of the semi’s trailer but was able to escape with no injuries.

At one point, both directions of traffic were closed due to the wreck.
