TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A semi has caused damage to powerlines in the area of Springhill Drive and U.S. 41 in Terre Haute and as a result, has caused around 6 or 7 local businesses to lose power.

Vigo County Dispatch has confirmed that a semi hit the powerlines at the intersection around 6:00 p.m. on June 9, while Duke Energy manager Rick Burger said that poles will have to be replaced and that the semi “took down a lot of wire.”

Burger also noted that the businesses that were impacted have been notified and will be without power until late evening or early Saturday morning.

Emergency crews have responded to the scene and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
