BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A school bus driving children was hit Thursday night by a truck at an intersection of US Highway 40 in Brazil, Ind.
The bus, according to a police report, was driving west on US Hwy 40 when it came to an intersection with SR 59. The bus driver as well as another passenger said the light was green and he continued to drive through the intersection before being hit by another vehicle.
The other vehicle, a semi truck, was headed south on SR 59. The driver was headed toward a truck stop on Interstate 70 when the collision happened around 10 p.m.
The truck hit the back right wheel of the school bus as both vehicles tried to cross the intersection. Everyone on the bus was checked by medical staff and released to their parents and neither driver reported any injuries.
Both vehicles were taken to Poor Boys Truck Repair & Towing in Terre Haute, Ind. the semi-truck driver received a citation for “disregarding a traffic control device,” police said.
