TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After almost 20 years in Terre Haute, the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza will have a new home next year.
Officials confirmed Tuesday the popular event will move to Lyons, Indiana in 2020.
The Scheid Diesel Extravaganza was first held as a TDR Rally in Effingham, Illinois in 1997. It later relocated to Terre Haute in 2000.
It is now going to Wagler Motorsports Park in Lyons. Scheid Diesel’s owner said the move is complementary to their business.
“Wagler Motorsports is owned by Wagler Competition Products and we both work together in the same field. So, our objective is to see that we can grow diesel motorsports,” said Dan Scheid.
The event that showcases all things diesel has brought thousands of visitors to the Wabash Valley over the years.
“I think it brought quite a bit to the community in economic benefit. We’re sad to see them go but we hope they have the best success,” said Mike Morris of the Wabash Valley Fair Association.
The dates of the Scheid Diesel extravaganza next year, are august 28 and 29.
