TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A report of shots fired in the area led to a short lockout at a Vigo County middle school.

According to Terre Haute Police Chief Shawn Keen, the incident occurred in the 2100 block of South 9th Street. Officers remained in the area late Wednesday afternoon, but believed the suspects had already fled.

No injuries were reported.

Vigo County School Corporation officials announced the lockout at Sarah Scott Middle School shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday to let parents know of potential changes to the day’s dismissal; however, the lockout was able to be lifted before students were let out for the day.
