TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In the spirit of giving, the Salvation Army is preparing for Christmas in October.
“We have work with Toys for Tots, we work with shop with police officers,” stated Jaylee Lawson. “We have so many special programs that we are able to enlist people in.”
Adults can register for Toys for Tots on Oct. 21-23 from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Registering for the event will allow for you to be selected for special programs such as shopping with a police officer or adopt a family. Special program selections will be contacted.
Everyone who shows up will receive a Toys for Tots voucher. If you would like to donate to Toys for Tots, donations can be collected at the Social Services office.
“We love to be there for people and Christmas is so important to us here. Helping the children and just making sure everybody has a good holiday,” explained Lawson. “Being able to provide those services when all of us come together. It’s a beautiful thing.”
Christmas is very important to those at the Salvation Army and Social Services. This year the Salvation Army will be doing Christmas baskets with food for the West Terre Haute and Terre Haute communities.
