TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Saint Mary-of-The-Woods College welcomed students and families to in-person commencement.
This was the first year the college allowed for student speakers and Kathryn Kraft earned the privilege to speak in front of her fellow classmates. She says it was an honor to speak especially with COVID-19 making things difficult over the last year.
“That’s stressful in itself but the school was really accommodating,” Kraft. “They helped us a lot with mental health things and things to help us financially and all of those things and that helped the peace of mind.”
President King says no one is able to accomplish anything on their own and that’s why it was important to have family in attendance.
Over 250 graduates walked across the stage earning their bachelors degree. The ceremony for graduate students was held later in the day.
Saint Mary-of-The-Woods president Dottie King says two ceremonies could become the new normal.
