TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A preschool program, provided at no cost to parents with children experiencing homelessness, living in a shelter, or in multiple-family households is seeking applicants for enrollment.
The Ryves Youth Center preschool program at Etling Hall has immediate openings for the coming school year. The program is sponsored by Catholic Charities Terre Haute and provides full-day no-cost care.
“At Ryves Preschool, we strive to create a safe and supportive learning environment for every child to grow,” Jim Pinkstaff, Director of Ryves Youth Center, said. “Our staff is committed to providing children with the necessary social and academic skills they will need to succeed.”
Pinkstaff added that the goal of the program is to have children prepared and ready to enter Kindergarten by the time they turn 5 years old.
The program is being overseen by Preschool Director Merasol Yunker, who holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and preschool education as well as a doctorate in education with an emphasis on preschool.
“We are happy to have Ms. Yunker join our team. Her patience and supportive classroom style provide both the structure and flexibility for children to learn at their own pace,” Pinkstaff said. “We look forward to watching the children and our program grow under her leadership.”
Potential students must be between the ages of 3-5 and be currently experiencing homelessness, living in a shelter, or living in a home that houses multiple families to qualify. For more information, or to register for the preschool call 812-235-1265, or E-mail Marasol Yunker here.
