CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: According to an update from Illinois State Police Sgt. Christopher Watson, all lanes on Route 49 have been reopened after a two-vehicle crash caused a total blockage and left farm equipment in pieces.
Original: Motorists driving on Route 49 near Westfield are advised to avoid the area due to a traffic accident that left farm equipment in pieces and caused a total road blockage.
According to a post from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the blockage is along Route 49 one mile south of Westfield. A traffic accident that occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Friday caused a total blockage of the road for an undetermined amount of time. The closest crossroads road is County Road 2000 and IL 49.
A WTWO photographer on the scene has recorded the aftermath of the accident which left farming equipment in pieces and shows significant damage to the front end of an involved vehicle.

Local authorities are asking people to use caution and avoid the area but Illinois State Police is currently handling the situation and noted around 4:00 p.m. (E.T.) that the road should be cleared shortly.
According to a release from ISP’s Sgt. Christopher Watson, multiple people were injured with two people being transported by helicopter.
