INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A weeks long police investigation ended in arrests Sunday after two people staying in Indianapolis allegedly defrauded a person from Rockville out of over $18,000.

Parke County Deputies began investigating the fraud on May 4 after a rural Rockville resident was scammed over the phone into thinking their grandson was in jail and needed money for bail. The search led the officers to Indianapolis, where two Panamanian nationals had already been located by Clay County and Indianapolis officers during investigation for another similar but unrelated fraud case.

Panama Adames, 36, and Jairo Roberts, 40, were arrested May 16 in Indianapolis after Parke County Deputies secured arrest warrants for the two. Both are facing multiple charges of fraud and are currently being held at the Clay County Jail for an unrelated fraud.
