Riley officials investigate fire at abandoned house

RILEY, Ind. – Officials are investigating a fire that occurred in an abandoned house in Riley late Thursday night.

Just before midnight, Riley Fire Department was called to a fully engulfed house fire at 3650 S. Tucker Street. The home was located near the I-70 and the 641 bypass.

Honey Creek, Sugar Creek and Seelyville Fire Departments also assisted in putting out the blaze.

It took crews almost two hours to completely extinguish the fire.

Officials are unsure what started the fire but Riley Fire Chief Matt McCullough says the house was abandoned and is a complete loss.

The fire is under investigation.
