Richland Co. health officials announce first case of COVID-19

OLNEY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Richland Co. TB and Public Health Office has announced the county’s first case of COVID-19.

In a release, health officials said the individual is a male in his 60’s who is “doing well” and is isolated at home. The patient isn’t allowed to leave the home until he is no longer able to transmit the virus.

Health officials will be investigating and speaking with anyone the patient may have come into contact with before the diagnosis. Anyone who officials determine has had significant exposure may be placed on home quarantine.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois as of Tuesday morning is 12,262 with 307 deaths reported.
