TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local college is once again being recognized as the best in the nation when it comes to engineering education.
U.S. News and World Report named Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as the nation’s number one engineering college focused on bachelor’s and master’s level education.
Rose-Hulman has received that ranking for 24 straight years.
U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges Guide bases the rankings on its annual survey of college engineering deans and senior faculty across the nation.
“Our mission statement talks about individualized attention and support and we take that very seriously,” Rose-Hulman President Robert Coons said. “Not only our faculty, but also our staff, the entire campus, really internalizes that message, that mission, and lives it every day.”
Coons says the ranking is great in terms of name recognition.
“Especially internationally, when you ask many of our international students where they first learned about Rose-Hulman, it’s on the website through U.S. News and World Report. They simply googled number one engineering undergraduate, and Rose-Hulman pops up.”
Rose-Hulman also ranked number one in the academic department categories of electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.
