INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) — A retired Air Force veteran was awarded the highest honor an Indiana Governor can bestow Tuesday at a ceremony held at Owen Valley High School.

Retired Lt. Col. Carl David Allen was given the “Sagamore of the Wabash” award by State Rep. Bob Heaton Tuesday. Allen has previously led ROTC programs at both Indiana State University and Rose-Hulman.

In addition to helping local colleges with their ROTC programs, Allen also later established the junior ROTC program at Oven Valley High School. The award is given to people who have done a distinguished service to the state or to the governor.
