reTHink’s community gardens, cooking classes aid area’s food-insecure

Local News

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Teaching families how to grow and prepare healthy foods is one mission of a local organization, and it’s seeking the community’s help.

Environmental group reTHink recently kicked off its spring gardening campaign. It has created six community gardens in Vigo County, in areas where poverty is prevalent.

Combining its gardening initiative with cooking classes, reTHink helps local families who are food-insecure. It takes about $10,000 a year to maintain its garden and classes, and helping the cause by donating can be done online.
