TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Terre Haute organization dedicated to creating a healthier and more sustainable Wabash Valley is hoping to gain support this Earth Day.

To raise funds for reTHink, Inc., Marta Shelton, Janaki Nallapareddy and Shikha Bhattacharyya will be fasting and painting rocks Thursday for Earth Day. Rocks can be purchased for $50.

“We are a non-profit organization trying to promote environmental sustainability here in the Wabash Valley,” Bhattacharyya explained. “And we depend on the generosity of our donors, community members and local businesses.”

reTHink not only works to educate the public on sustainability, it also offers a zero-waste community store and offers services such as an upcycling club and composting program.

“[We] try to raise a lot of awareness about environmental issues,” Bhattacharyya noted, “and we’re dong the best we can to reduce pollution and create a cleaner and greener Wabash Valley.”
