TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Dozens of people packed the Booker T. Washington Center on Saturday evening to participate in an annual fundraiser.

Rethink Inc. hosted its “replay runway” event which invites community members to make materials out of recycled materials and compete to see who has the best one. Those in attendance were also treated to a dinner. It’s all to help the organization pay for things that aren’t covered by grants.

Shikha Bhattacharyya, the executive director for Rethink, said this event is vital for them to provide their services, like a zero-waste shop and community garden, here in Terre Haute.

“Our mission is to educate and empower our community to live a cleaner, greener, healthier life,” she said. “Every opportunity we get we want to do that. Money is secondary, we need it so we have to raise it but our primary goal is not to raise the funds, our primary goal is to work for the community.”
