PIMENTO, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – Its been several months since the devastating loss of the old Pimento School building in Vigo County.
You may remember a fire destroyed what was left of the structure before it was ultimately torn down.
Now a local organization made efforts to give the community and alumni hope Saturday.
Many current and former residents of the Pimento gathered for fellowship at the Masons of Pimento Lodge 292.
Attendees were treated to some pancakes and sausages as they reminisced on memories made at the school.
Chapter treasurer Doug Sloan said this is just one of the lodge’s many efforts to provide a gathering spot for the community.
“Now the Pimento Lodge is looking at what can we do to provide community events for the town of Pimento,” Sloan said. “Additionally, to help people remember Pimento School, because there are a lot of memories there.”
Sloan said the lodge plans to have a community Jonah Fish Fry the second weekend in October.
