TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Thanks to the Secular Franciscans and Friends, many people in the community can rely on a free meal, with another coming up this weekend.
On Saturday, September 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Parish’s Soup Kitchen at 9th and Walnut Streets all are welcome to enjoy a free breakfast. This week the breakfast will include pancakes with strawberries, whipped cream, and sausage.
Sandy Cline with the Secular Franciscan Order gave an update on the number of people being served throughout the community thanks to these meals.
“Getting the word out made it possible for us to serve 114 meals to hungry children, men, and women at our August 26 biscuits and gravy breakfast. With the 82 servings provided at our August 12 breakfast, we hit an all-time high for one month of 196 servings,” Cline said.
Cline also mentioned that the next breakfast will take place on September 23.
