TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A day shelter will be coming to Terre Haute soon according to volunteers with Reach Services.
The shelter will also provide important services to the homeless population including counseling opportunities. The shelter will also be a place where people can receive mail if they do not have a permanent address.
“So many people struggle to get an appointment because they don’t have an address, struggle to get food stamps because they don’t have an address, health coverage because they don’t have an address,” said Travis Phillips, Reach program manager. “So this is giving them an outlet to so many services that they don’t currently have.”
The shelter is expected to be open by March.
Organizers said they hope to eventually operate a 24-hour shelter.
