TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local organizations like Reach Service’s Pathways Day Center are opening their doors to provide people relief from the hot weather.

Autumn Howell, the lead case manager at Pathways said the center will have extended hours this week from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for people who need a place to cool down.

People can also take showers at the location until 7:00 p.m. and there will also be snacks and water available for those that may need it.

Howell said just having the option for people to come in, cool down, and rest for a bit Is huge.

“It’s extreme temperatures and it’s just like when we do the warming center. If you don’t have to be out in those elements, if you could find the place to rest, cool off, warm up, and you have the ability to help the next human, I mean you do what you can,” Howell said.

Pathways Day Center is located at 504 South 15th Street in Terre Haute.
