Railroad repairs scheduled next month in Daviess, Knox counties

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation announced a complete closure for a railroad crossing on State Road 57 in Washington.

Beginning on or around Monday, March 1, crews with CSX will begin a project to replace the railroad crossing in Washington between Railroad Street and East South Street. Work is expected to last for about four days depending upon weather conditions.

During the closure, local traffic will have access up to the point of closure, but all thru traffic should use the official detour following U.S. 50, I-69, and S.R. 58.  

The following week, INDOT is planning a complete closure for the railroad crossing on State Road 550 in Wheatland.

Beginning on or around Monday, March 8, crews with CSX will begin a project to replace the railroad crossing in Wheatland between North Railroad Street West and Louisville Street. Work is expected to last for about four days depending upon weather conditions.

During the closure, local traffic will have access up to the point of closure, but all thru traffic should use the official detour following U.S. 50, U.S. 41, and S.R. 67.
