MARSHALL, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Marshall, Illinois community gathered at Mill Creek Park as they took part in the 6th annual Prison Break 5K.

The race consisted of different obstacles along the way including wall and rope climbs as well as sand bag carries.

Between 80 to 100 people took part in this event that went towards helping the children in the community.

The event was a fundraiser for the “Shop with a Cop” program that works to provide children with clothes and toys.

“They’re the future of our communities and there’s so many kids out there that before I got in to doing this stuff I didn’t realize that just don’t get Christmas,” Jeff Sanders, president of the Clark County Police Association said. “We’re not going to stand around and just let that happen.”

Sanders says the program continues to grow and they are now able to hep over 200 kids.
