Power restored to all Wabash Valley homes as cleanup efforts continue

Local News

WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — All power has been restored to Wabash Valley homes, according to representatives from WIN and Duke Energy, after severe storms early Saturday morning caused thousands of outages in the area.

Following the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms throughout Saturday, over 13,000 Duke Energy customers were without power, Duke District Manager Rick Burger said, but as of Monday afternoon all power has been restored in these homes. Additionally, the more than 2,000 WIN Energy members have had their power restored as well, Chief Operating Officer Leslie Beard said.

Both Duke and WIN saw significant damage to both power lines and poles in the Wabash Valley area and crews from both energy providers were working Saturday through Sunday night and into Monday to restore the power and clean up the damage. Now that power has been restored, clean up efforts are underway.

The areas that were hit most significantly in Vigo County were Fairbanks and Voorhees parks, according to County Commissioner Chris Switzer. Clean up crews will be present throughout the county until all fallen trees and damaged poles are cleaned up.
