WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: As of 10:30 a.m. Thursday, utility officials have announced that this boil order has been lifted.
Original: A boil order has been enacted for some customers in West Terre Haute as well as out-of-town customers.
According to Utility Clerk Christie Lindley, the order affects customers located west of the intersection of 9th and National Avenue, as well as all out-of-town customers.
The order is due to water main breaks in town Tuesday.
Lindley added that the order excludes Ferguson Hill.
The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
