VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A police pursuit that shut down lanes of US-41 Wednesday morning in southern Vigo County has ended and roadways have reopened.

Police began a chase around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday after a stolen red Dodge truck located by officers in the area of 7th Street and Margaret Avenue fled a traffic stop. Subsequently, lanes of US-41 in the southern area of the county were shut down and had traffic.

Officers with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police began chasing the truck down US-41, eventually deploying stop sticks. The suspect’s vehicle hit the stop sticks which caused the truck to crash on the east side of US-41.

The suspect was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, THPD said. The suspect, a male, was taken to a local hospital where he is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect’s name will be released once he is booked into Vigo County Jail, according to police.
