TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A new piece of artwork has been created in downtown Terre Haute to show awareness for Breast Cancer.

The Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors organization paints the mural every year a week before their carnation sale. The new artwork can be found at the intersection of 6th and Wabash Ave.

Nina Storey says it was great to have this organization’s support when she went through her first battle of Breast Cancer.

“I’m a two-time breast cancer survivor so the first time I went through breast cancer, I found out about the group and I just found it to be so helpful. Support from other survivors,” said Storey.

Due to COVID-19, they were unable to paint the ribbon last year and they say they were excited to return.

There won’t be carnation sale this year but donations can be made at First Financial Bank.

They’re working to raise money for mammograms and wigs for those who have lost their hair due to breast cancer.
