OLNEY, lll. (WTWO) — One person was struck by gunfire during a shooting in Olney, IL., Saturday, and Illinois State Police are working to learn more information.
Officers from the Olney Police Department and deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department were called to the intersection of E. Lafayette and S. Washington Streets at about 6 p.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.

When they arrived, officers found a person who had been shot. The shooting victim was taken to Carle Richland Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No suspect information has been released at this time.
While Illinois State Police are leading an investigation into the shooting, Olney Police Department officials said the shooting seems to be an isolated incident. Therefore, they said there is no reason to believe there is any active threat to the community.
The investigation continues.
