BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A pedestrian who was struck and killed Saturday night near the intersection of US Highway 40 and State Road 340 in Brazil, Ind., according to Mike Heaton with the Clay County Sheriff’s Department, has been identified.

At approximately 6:09 p.m. Saturday, Clay County dispatch received calls of a man lying in the road near a Marathon gas station in Brazil. The man was identified on Monday as Charles Brown, 41, of Brazil, Ind.

Brown died at the scene as a result of his injuries. According to a news release, a car was travelling westbound and struck Brown as he was crossing the street returning home from a gas station.

While Brown was crossing the highway to get back home, 19-year-old Gavin Wysong of Brownsburg, Ind. was driving back to Indiana State University and did not see Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing police said. He struck Brown, which eventually killed him.
