TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man is in the hospital with injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in Terre Haute Wednesday.
The incident happened on US 41/S. 3rd Street just south of the intersection with Oak Street. According to police, the pedestrian who was hit was a 28-year-old man. Witnesses at the scene told police they saw the man standing on the median between the north and southbound lanes.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, who was not charged in the incident, told police that she was traveling south on 3rd street when the pedestrian who was standing on the small median looked to the south and stepped into the road. The driver stated they attempted to stop, but was unable to do so in time before striking the pedestrian.
The man who was hit was taken to Union Hospital with what officials describe as non-life-threatening injuries.
