SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sullivan County authorities are not identifying a man they said jumped from a moving vehicle during a police pursuit Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s department, deputies were in pursuit of a vehicle driven by Bradley Kerns, 60, of Hymera, when he slowed the vehicle for a passenger who then jumped out and fled on foot.

Deputies had attempted to pull Kerns over for improper tail lights when the pursuit ensued. He led police on a chase that briefly entered Vigo County before circling back into Sullivan County. The chase ended when Kerns crashed his vehicle on County Road 650E near 1150 N. Kerns attempted to run from authorities, but was quickly taken into custody.

He was transported to the Sullivan County Jail on initial charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator.

A second passenger, Angela Douthitt, 49, of Jasonville, was arrested for assisting a criminal, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and false informing.
